Restless Dreams

Just for a moment, reality splinters
Almost as though the world peels back
Moments pass like years in the silences
Enough of this world has gone by without changing
Something has bent, and reality breaks

Seething darkness is the constant friend
Under ceilings caked with rust of years
Now in the endless hallway
Down he crawls into his descent
Enough can never be done to atone for sins
Rest for the wicked cannot be found
Lest he forgets, up again he draws the memory
Against down billows, breath halts still
Never questioning the words that brought him here
Down he crawls, chasing those restless dreams
